About the Album
After an intensely dedicated and fruitful 2.5 year journey of self-producing her debut solo album ‘Song of a Thousand Leaves’ Susie releasing this creation on 16th April 2018. Joined by no less than 31 fantastic guest musicians including world renowned Kora player Seckou Keita and Baka Beyond’s Su Hart with her traditional ‘Rainforest Singing’, Susie has woven deeply authentic threads of music from across the world to her 12 original soulful acoustic songs.
Crafting this record with so much wild creativity and care has brought these songs alive in a way that I never could have done with just me and my guitar.
Although the album is unusually eclectic (within the realm of an acoustic production of ‘all real instruments’) Susie’s masterful voice and deeply honest lyrics is the thread that ties the listening journey of this record together. Susie and her right hand man Michael Stanton have poured every ounce of their creativity into this production and take you on an exciting, albeit longer than usual, 70 minute journey through a decade of Susie's songwriting; one moments you will be weeping with her by her father’s bedside, and the next you will be dancing with her, celebrating the joy of being alive!
