SONG OF A
THOUSAND
LEAVES
Book of Love
Bristol, UK 2013
This song was inspired by the prologue of ‘The Book of Love’ by Kathleen McGowan. I wanted to include it on my album as a prayer and song of solidarity for all the families who have had to make hard and long journeys across the desert in search of a new life. From my heart sending a blessing of peace to all the refugees, you are not forgotten.
Under the earth they were hiding
Heartbeats on crumbling stone
Cloaked was the woman that protects them
But they know their fate will come
One family
Escaping across the desert sands
Too hot to breathe
A fight of faith binds their hands
Cutting the sands blow against them
The wind throws her hair across her face
A child she is with a secret
The sun beats merciless on her grace
One family
Escaping across the desert sands
Too hot to breathe
A fight of faith binds their hands
To the book of love
To the book of love
One final prayer the two were granted
A kiss as tender as a dove
All watched their end but their daughter
She had fled to carry the word of love
One family
Escaping across the desert sands
Too hot to breathe
A fight of faith binds their hands
To the book of love
To the book of love
