SONG OF A
THOUSAND
LEAVES
Silver City
Cornwall, UK 2008
This song flew in from the oceans of Falmouth, just a stream of images with no thoughts. After receiving it I realised it captured the essence of my childhood so sweetly, on the peninsula of Coromandel, New Zealand, like a sweet magical dream of salty air, then moving to the Silver City of Auckland.
Chords

Capo II
Am C F G
I plan strength
I topple sideways clearing my bench
I heard my name
Trembling tall trees searching the skies
And when I came
I swam from the headlands carrying torches
You’re the same
Under the shell now whispering secrets
Chorus:
I once knew a silver city
Down by the water’s edge
Help me find my coral footprints
The swamps have swallowed to their depths
I’ll show you towers turned of oak wood
The great white horses home
I hope that you don’t turn the light on
I hope that I’m not alone
I plan change
I wake from the inside, sleep on the train
Sink my teeth
Forget my manners, blame it on me
I write it down
Capture nothing but swollen clouds
And turn your head
Think you don’t see me splashing around
Chorus
